One of the essential qualities an editor needs is a good sense of story. For me, this stems from a deep love of creating and exploring characters as they interact with one another.
A love of characters, however does not a film or television show make. I have been editing professionally for 8 years. I know from experience that to deliver a project that is greater than the sum of its parts it requires a painstaking process of digging for the best performances and playing through pieces of music until you find the right sound and mentally and physically indexing hours of footage so that moments can be created that otherwise don't exist.
I have a great ear for music and I know how to pace a scene for comedy and drama. On top of all of this I have a great love for working as a part of a creative team to deliver a quality product on time that the network will be proud of.
